Our Beliefs
We ascribe to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.
The Scriptures
We emphasize the divine inspiration, inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency of the Scriptures, holding that the Bible alone is the ultimate and trustworthy guide for faith and practice.
- Divine Origin —
- The Holy Scriptures are given by the inspiration of God.
- Inerrancy —
- The Bible is without error, containing the pure truth of God.
- Clarity —
- The central teachings of the Bible are straightforward and can be understood by all through the Holy Spirit.
- Sufficiency —
- The Scriptures contain everything needed for God's glory, salvation, faith, and life.
- Authority —
- The Bible is the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and practice.
- Canonical Recognition —
- The books of the Old and New Testaments are recognized as canonical; no other writings are Scripture.
God
We believe in the unity and distinct roles of the three persons of the Trinity: the Father as Creator and Sustainer, the Son as Redeemer and Mediator, and the Holy Spirit as Regenerator and Sanctifier.
- God the Father —
- Creator and sovereign ruler of heaven and earth — loving, gracious, merciful, and just — who provides redemption through Jesus Christ.
- God the Son —
- Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human; born of the virgin Mary, He lived sinlessly, died to atone for sin, rose again, ascended, and will return in glory.
- God the Holy Spirit —
- The third person of the Trinity, fully divine, who regenerates, sanctifies, and indwells believers, gives spiritual gifts, and comforts and guides.
Man
Humanity was created in the image of God, yet chose to sin and suffered the consequences. Only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ can man be redeemed and restored to God.
- Creation and Purpose —
- Man is the special creation of God, made in His image to glorify Him.
- Gender and Marriage —
- God created them male and female, establishing the family as the foundational institution of human society.
- The Fall —
- Adam's disobedience brought sin and death into the world, affecting all his descendants.
- Original Sin —
- All people inherit a sinful nature and are under the just wrath of God unless redeemed by Jesus Christ.
- Redemption and Restoration —
- Salvation is made possible by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Salvation
Salvation is a work of God's grace alone — encompassing God's call, regeneration, faith and repentance, justification, sanctification, and glorification.
- Calling —
- Through the preaching of the Gospel, the Holy Spirit calls individuals to Christ.
- Regeneration —
- By the Holy Spirit, individuals are born again and made new creatures in Christ.
- Repentance and Faith —
- Salvation involves genuine repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Justification —
- Believers are declared righteous by faith alone, based on Christ's righteousness — not by any work of man.
- Adoption —
- Believers are adopted as children of God and made heirs with Christ.
- Sanctification —
- The ongoing transformation by which the believer grows in holiness and Christlikeness.
- Perseverance & Glorification —
- True believers persevere to the end and are ultimately conformed to Christ, enjoying eternal life with God.
Baptism & Communion
We observe two ordinances instituted by Christ — baptism and communion.
- Baptism —
- A public act of obedience by immersion, symbolizing the believer's union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, and necessary for admission to the visible church.
- Communion —
- A memorial and proclamation of Christ's sacrifice — the bread and fruit of the vine symbolize His body and blood — providing spiritual nourishment and unity for believers until He returns.
The Church
The invisible church encompasses all believers in Christ; the visible church is a local community committed to Christ, observing His ordinances, and governed congregationally under the leadership of pastors/elders and deacons.
- Marks of the True Church —
- Preaching the Gospel, administering the ordinances, prayer, and church discipline.
- Church Government —
- Christ is the head; congregations practice congregational governance, overseen by elders and served by deacons.
- Membership —
- Involves a credible profession of faith, baptism, and commitment to live according to the teachings of Christ.
- Unity and Fellowship —
- The church maintains unity, love, and fellowship, supporting one another in faith and practice.
The Great Commission
We believe in the church's responsibility to evangelize, make disciples, and teach the commands of God, relying on the authority and presence of Jesus and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
- Mandate from Christ —
- Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations.
- Global Mission —
- The mission extends to all people groups, emphasizing global evangelism and missions.
- Empowerment by the Holy Spirit —
- Believers rely on the Spirit's guidance and strength, assured of Christ's presence.
